Jehovah's Witness challenge

Everything limmy says is exactly how i feel about the Jehova's Witnesses. I've had a similar conversation, But I brought up the Dinosaurs. There was a stony silence. . . and they left. That was about 10 years ago. they haven't been back since.

After waiting, for over a month . . .

For my HEROES Season 1 Box set to arrive from across the Atlantic. It finally arrived yesterday.
But for some reason I just didn't have the enthusiasm and i really can't be arsed watching any of the 23 episodes , or the unaired pilot, or the 50 deleted scenes, or The Making of Heroes, orThe Special Effects, or The Stunts, or the Profile of Artist Tim Sale, or The Score, or the Mind Reader Game, or the Audio Commentaries with Cast, Crew and Show Creator Chris Kring. . .

How Cool is . . .

Satellite Navigation?
I got myself a Tomtom One XL for virtually half price with free speed camera updates. Now I've got Ozzy Osbourne telling me how to get to my "fucking" destination. It's only a few years since these things appeared and already the price has dropped so low, that even I can afford one. All you do is: enter a postcode as your destination, and it will guide you there via the fastest route possible. The "Safety Camera" feature is cool. It alerts you when you approach a speed camera. It tell's you how fast you are traveling, what the current speed limit is, where the nearest petrol station / cash-point / car-park / cinema / theatre / picnic area / camp-site / railway station / beach / hotel / hospital. . . etc. . . etc is/are. It's just great!

I always sneered at people who had thier sat-nav's on whilst they were driving along a perfectly straight stretch of motorway. I now realise they are so much more than just a voice, telling you where to go.

I now put it in the van just to drive to ASDA. A journey of approximately ONE MILE.

Buy one NOW!!!! you won't regret it

EDIT (23-09-07): Since I posted this, Amazon have put up the price ot £249.00. A hundred quid more than I paid. Ah Well. Looks like you missed a bargain.

Lardmobile 2

Carry-1876-Edit

Yep! I've got a replacement for The Lardmobile. A late December 2002 model Suzuki Carry 1.3 .
It's only done 33,000 miles and was a bargain at £2,200. :)
I filled it up and it cost less than 30 quid. I've done 60 miles and the needle has only just dropped below the "full" mark. If I can get 310 miles from a tank full of fuel I'll have halved my fuel costs.
Fingers are crossed.
It's weird driving something, so small and nippy. It can literally turn on a sixpence. It makes the Land Rover feel like your trying to turn the QE2.
I'll get the plates transferred from The Lardmobile soon, and maybe a nifty set of alloys.

The Search For . . .

. . .Lardmobile II goes on. I still haven't found a suitable replacement for The Lardmobile.
I'm currently driving, Ste's Shogun. It's like driving a dainty sportscar, compared to Peter's Land Rover.
God knows, what a Suzuki Carry is going to feel like :)
I'm looking for: a completely clean; low mileage; one lady owner, in Silver with Full MOT and 12 months tax for under £3K.
Anybody got one?

Fort Bill Finals

Wow ! I've just watched the finals from Fort Bill, on the telly. The new sections of the Downhill Course looked really good and the extra length on the 4X made the racing a lot more competitive. But not for Cedric Gracia, who broke his wrist, putting him out of the Downhill.
The Mens Junior Downhill gold medal was won by a Scot, Ruaridh Cunningham. Rachel Atherton took away gold in the Senior Womens. Rachels big brother, Gee took a bronze medal in the Senior Mens race.
Peaty had a bad race. Still nursing his dislocated foot, he came off in the upper section of the course and rode most of the track without a saddle.
Still, at the end of the day, despite the rain and wind and mud and midges. I'd rather be there now, facing a possible 8 hour drive home, than sitting here typing this.
Ah well only 2 hours to go and I'm back in work to start another 12 hour shift.

Pete Townshend

One of my favourite tracks from Quadrophenia. "Drowned" performed by Pete, from the "In The Attic" PodCast. Check out all the podcasts from Pete and his girlfriend Rachel Fuller by clicking HERE

Fort Bill

I 'm not at Fort Bill for The World Championships, this year. I've got to go into work on Saturday and Sunday night. :( This is the first time I've missed a World Cup in 5 years. It's also the first time that the Lardmobile won't be parked in the same spot by the woods. I might cry . . .
So . . . While everyone is getting smashed around a camp fire at this very moment. I'm sitting at my iMac, typing this. Also this the first time the World Championships have been at Fort Bill, and not just a round of The World Cup. I know I'm going to miss something special.
What will really piss me off is. I'll be in work tonight & Sunday night and there will be nothing to do. I'm only there because there are only two of us on a weekend shift and one of us might die. So the other one is there to provide the kiss of life. Somehow I've got a feeling that there'll be someone else in anyway, and no need for me to be there at all.

New iPods

Apple have restyled the iPod Range and launched TWO new iPods. The iPod Nano, which now sports a new 2 inch screen with video capability, and looks like a squashed down iPod Video (Now called the "Classic"), and the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is basically an iPhone without the phone. This has a 3.5 inch display and looks very cool indeed. It includes WiFi and is available in 8GB and 16GB versions, at £199 and £269, respectively.
The Nano is also available as a 4GB version for £99, in silver, and an 8 GB version for £129 available in Silver, Powder Blue, Pale Green, Black and (PRODUCT) red. All the above are Flash memory Based except the classic which still has a hard drive.
The Classic now comes in 80GB and a massive 160GB version for £159 or £229. Both available in Silver or Black. All iPods Still include Free engraving. Battery life has been improved with the 160GB version giving up to 40 hours playback time.
Noticeably White plastic has been dropped from Apples new range of products. It has been replaced with Aluminium.

Bad things come in Three's

At 9am I drove round to Warrington diesels to pick up The Lardmobile. Plumes of smoke trailed behind me as i drove it out of the compound and parked it in the street outside. I'm going to pick it up and drive it home tomorrow morning (when the roads are quiet) . Then i got back to Peters Land Rover and tried to open the door. The key twisted and cracked. I got in but the key wouldn't go into the ignition :( BolloX!

I walked into Warrington town centre and luckily Timpsons did me two copies for £7.50 and they worked. :)

I finally got to bed at11.30 am. I had to be back in work for 7pm. I got up at 5.30 and left the house at six. I closed the door and tried to get into the Land Rover . . . with the Lardmobile Keys . . . I's left the proper keys on the table with my house keys attached. :(

I had to break into my own house to get my keys so i could get back in!?!? Anyway I was late for work.

Hopefully, that's the end of my run of bad luck!

Drop In Season 5

My favourite mountain bike show is back. Drop In.
